Beliefs & Doctrines

What do we believe?

Below is a basic summary of our orthodox Christian belief.

How can we know God?

We believe God has universally communicated Himself through the creation of the universe, specially revealed Himself in the incarnation of Jesus, and uniquely disclosed Himself through the inspiration of the Bible. Today God still speaks through His Word, His world, His Spirit, and His people.

Can we trust the Bible?

We believe there is compelling internal and external evidence to trust that the Scriptures are true, authoritative and divinely inspired by God. They are sufficient for knowing God and His will for our lives.

Who is God?

We believe God is love, holy, gracious, sovereign, good, just, kind, patient, faithful, forgiving, omniscient, creative, joyful, truthful, omnipotent, wise, personal, and glorious. There is one God existing as three distinct persons in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are co-existent, co-equal, and co-eternal.

Who is humanity?

We believe that humanity is created in the image of God with intrinsic dignity, worth, and purpose. The ultimate goal of humanity is to glorify God and reflect His nature into the world. We believe there are two genders - male and female - who are equal, complimentary, and distinct in their divine design.

Why are we here?

We believe God created the world as an overflow of His love, joy, and creativity. He expects us to trust Him, take care of His creation, and glorify Him in all we do.

What’s wrong with the world?

We believe that sin has fractured all things and all people, leaving the whole world in desperate need of redemption and restoration. Human dignity is now marred by human depravity.

Who can make things right?

We believe God became a human being in Jesus Christ. After dying in our place, Christ physically rose from the dead, which solidified Him as humanity's only hope for restored dignity and life beyond the grave.

Do we need to be saved?

We believe that as a result of sin, all humanity is now disfigured by depravity. Restoring human dignity cannot be achieved through our own effort. Salvation is available to all by grace alone through faith in Christ alone.

What is the Gospel?

We believe God created us with human dignity for human flourishing, but in choosing to sin and live apart from God, we all became marred by human depravity and headed for destruction. Although we are so far from God that Jesus had to die for us, God loved us so much that Christ was glad to die and rise again in our place. By trusting in Christ we are reconciled to God and fully alive in Him.

Who is the church?

We believe the Church is a global community of disciples called by God, purchased by Jesus, and filled by the Spirit to restore God’s creation to its intended purpose of glorifying Him. The mission of the Church is to love God, love people, and make disciples throughout all nations of the world until Jesus returns.

How does history end?

We believe that Jesus will one day physically return from Heaven to join Heaven and Earth into one new version of the universe where all of God’s people from the beginning of time will enjoy life in the perfect presence of God and one another. When Jesus returns, there will be a resurrection of the dead. He will judge every person that rejected Him and remained in their depravity according to their actions, decisions, and secrets. They will be given over to their desires to spend eternity without the presence of God. Those who turned from depravity to toward dignity through faith in the person of Christ will spend an eternity in the city of God where His presence will dwell in the direct presence of civilization forever and ever.
